Ginger Molasses Cookies

Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup margarine or butter
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp ground ginger
1 Tbsp finely chopped fresh ginger
2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
sugar

Heat oven to 375. Mix sugar, margarine, molasses and egg in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients except sugar.

Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet; flatten slightly. Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are set. Remove from cookie sheet.
